Well, this was Tom and I’s third Valentines day together and we weren’t quite sure how to spend it! Ideally, we would’ve really loved to travel, but with Tom and I both having to work the next day, that seemed a bit unrealistic. So, pretty much meant we were staying in San Diego! I didn’t want to just go out to dinner or go out to a movie with the million other couples going out that day, so I set Tom a $100 budget and said good luck! After work, we dropped off some chocolates and a card for my… View Post

So I was talking to my friend about this yesterday, and figured it’d be a good thing to write about! The number of couples who call it quits around the one-year mark is staggering. As it turns out, there are legit statistics that help to shed some light on this.  A report by the Washington Post states that around 70% of straight unmarried couples break up within the first year. Holy smokes, that’s high. How can we make sure we don’t become part of that statistic? Well, here’s my thoughts… Don’t just “give up” if things get rocky…communicate! After a… View Post

This year for New Years, we decided to do something a little different. Usually, we’ll go to New York City over New Years to watch the ball drop and see a Broadway play or two (it really is amazing), or go skiing. But this year, we decided to take a family trip up to San Francisco and Napa Valley! I know most people go to Napa in the summer, but my dad absolutely HATES hot weather… so winter it was! We decided to stay at the Fairmont in Nob Hill for our few days in San Francisco. It is a… View Post

As soon as Tom and I got engaged, we got to thinking: where should we get married? Tom’s family is in England, mine is in San Diego. Our friends are pretty much spread out all over America and Europe. With everyone so spread out, how do you choose a place to get married that’s convenient for people? Also, what type of venue would we even like? Are we the get married on the beach type of couple? Or would we rather do something maybe in the snow? Or maybe a winery wedding… those are always so pretty! There are literally… View Post

This blog has been in the works for a while. I’ve been stopping and starting, trying to juggle life around to get it up and running. Well, today’s the day! I thought my first post should be what originally inspired me to write a blog… my engagement story : ) Tom had promised me a trip up to Mendocino (a small coastal town in Northern California) for my birthday present a few months ago. Most people have never heard of it… but my parents always tell us stories of their trip up there, and how it was one of the… View Post
